Ryouta Sakamoto is the best player in Japan at the well-known online video game Btooom. He wakes up alone on a remote island with a little green crystal buried in his left hand and no recollection of how he got there. He was shocked to learn that someone had chosen to reproduce the game he loves in a real-world setting.


Ryouta and his fellow competitors are sent to an island where they must kill seven other players in order to leave the game and return home. They are equipped with a bag full of special explosives known as "BIM".
