The story of Shiki focuses on a series of mysterious deaths that occur in a country town named Sotoba. The series begins with a group of mysterious deaths that occur in a rural town named Sotoba Village. The strange deaths occur simultaneously with a strange change in personality in the victims. The victims become aggressive, deranged, and delusional. The series follows the main character Natsuno Yuuki as he becomes involved in the strange phenomenon and attempts to solve the mystery of the deaths. The series starts off with the death of Natsuno's grandmother. His grandmother is the only one who knows about the existence of the creatures.
